Note: Several people have sent me mail asking where to find the images,
so I thought I'd repost the original message. Also, those of you who
tried getting WCSv2-2.jpg and found it corrupt -- my apologies. I'm
unsure what happened, both were sent at the same time and the same
way, and WCSv2-2.jpg got munched. Must be Shub-Internet. I have resent
WCSv2-2.jpg into the incoming directory, you can find it there until
it gets moved.

 Again, my profuse apologies. And your comments are very much requested.

  It's money-where-the-mouth is time. We're ready to release the second set
of World Construction Set Version 2 images. These are Copyright 1995 by
Questar Productions, but are freely distributable for non-commercial use.

  The next in our Postcards From the Virtual Edge series is a pair of
images titled "Citadel: Day and Night". They're both the same scene,
frames 50 and 300 respectively from a short animation we're working on.
This clip will be showing at our booth at VTU Expo Nov 2-4, and will also
be (I believe) on a forthcoming LIGHT-ROM in JPEG format.

  The files should show up on tomahawk shortly. They're named WCSv2-2.jpg
and WCSv2-3.jpg. (Clever names, eh?) If you haven't already, check out
WCSv2-1.jpg while you're visiting.

  I'm not going to talk up these like I did the last one, but here's some
technical notes:

    It's all WCS. These images have not been retouched. They were converted
    from IFF by ImageFX 2.0, but no compositing or rendering or processing
    was done to this image outside of WCS.

    Each frame took approximately 42 minutes on a 16Mb A2000/040-33(GVP).
    They each contain about 720,000 polygons.

    I'm releasing them as 100% quality JPEG for the best cross-platform
    compatibility. We didn't want to compress them further because there's
    sooo much detail in some areas that DCT really murders it. We're not
    going to bother with GIF this time.

    We recommend you view these in a 24-bit display mode if available,
    but if you are using fewer colors, _don't_ use a WWW browser. They tend
    to have "sub-optimal" dithering and color conversion. ;)
